31 Ways to Waste Time - Day 3

Wikipedia. It's the bane of educators. Because anyone can update Wikipedia, a lot of what Wikipedia says is wrong. In fact, Wikipedia came under scrutiny a few years ago when an anonymous user posted defamatory content in the John Seigenthaler biography entry. But, I digress.

One of the more amusing things to do with Wikipedia is to click the "Random Article" button. Here are some of the more fun entries I found in the past half hour of doing next to nothing.
  1. Buffalo buffalo : "Buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo." is a grammatically valid sentence in the English language, used as an example of how homonyms and homophones can be used to complicate linguistic constructs. Here is what it looks like to me.
  2. Calculator spelling : Using your calculator to spell fun words, like hELL0. Or 8008S. Or this, which I hear would be much worse.
  3. Colletto Fava : It's a giant pink bunny in Italy. And when I say giant pink bunny, I mean you can see it using Google Earth. I know, because I did it just now.

  4. International Talk Like a Pirate Day : It's coming up on September 19th. My family will be out of town that day, which should make the holiday that much more amusing. Here's an amusing picture from the Graveyard of the Atlantic Museum in Hatteras, NC.

  5. Fart lightning : Yeah, it is exactly what it sounds like, people trying to set their farts on fire. I can totally see the boys asking to do this for home school.
Now it's your turn. What are your favorite random wiki entries?
